With more than 45 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Coryell has excelled as a chaplain with Alameda County Sheriff's Department, and Reserve Sheriff's Deputy until 2000. Previous to joining the Sheriff's Office, Mr. Coryell worked as a volunteer protestant chaplain at San Quentin State Prison from 1988 to 1990, a consultant, a guest lecturer, and a martial arts instructor with the YMCA, and the owner and the president of Dan Coryell Associates. He found success as the president, the corporate director, and the chief financial officer of corporate operations at CWE Systems, Inc. from 1979 to 1990, and as an instructor and a chief engineer of TV Production Services at Patten College from 1973 to 1990. Mr. Coryell began his career as a disc jockey with KFMR-FM. A respected intelligent professional, Mr. Coryell is fluent in Spanish and English.
Mr. Coryell initially pursued an education at Patten College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1976. He continued his studies at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a designated subjects teaching credentials in 1979. He later completed postgraduate coursework in 1989 at Liberty University. He was inspired by his father to pursue journalism and technical media fields in college. Moreover, Mr. Coryell was ordained as a minister in 1989. Mr. Coryell holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a black belt in Judo and Jitsu. He holds a commercial license from the Federal Communications Commission as well as being a licensed Radio Amateur.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Coryell has been an active leader in his community. He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio Television Digital News Association, the National Association of Evangelicals, and the American Protestant Correctional Chaplain's Association. Mr. Coryell has also been affiliated with the American Correctional Association, the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the Society of Motion Picture and TV Engineers, and the National Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Coryell currently serves as the television ministry leader at his church as well as serving with the Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network, in disaster response services. Mr. Coryell was the Technical Director and helped to produce a film "The Impossible Dream" on location in Israel in 1975. Likewise, Mr. Coryell reached the rank of Captain as a member of the United States Air Force Auxiliary; Civil Air Patrol in 1996.
Throughout his career, Mr. Coryell has been celebrated for his impressive contributions to his field. He attributes his success to his faith and his father and mother's example of selfless service to others. Notably, he was presented with the Heart Award from Patten College, and the Founders Medal from CECA in 1980. Furthermore, Mr. Coryell has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in Entertainment, and Who's Who in Religion.
