He began his career path as a librarians' assistant at Indiana University in Bloomington from 1979 to 1980, an intern at the Cummins Foundation from 1980 to 1981, an assistant managing director at International Business Associates Ltd. in 1983 and an associate instructor at Arizona State University in Tempe from 1985 to 1986. Dr. Jumper concluded his career in 2004, after seven years as an adjunct professor at the Middlesex Research Center with the United States Navy.
Dr. Jumper also served in the Navy College Program for Afloat College Education at Central Texas College from 1997 to 2004. Prior to becoming an esteemed educator, he pursued higher education with coursework at the America Community School Beirut in Lebanon from 1966 to 1972. Dr. Jumper went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University in 1982, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Maine in 1985 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Tennessee in 1996.
An accomplished writer as well, Dr. Jumper has authored a number of books, including "Power and Politics: The Story of Malaysia's Orang Asli" in 1977, "Orang Asli Now: The Organ Asli in the Malaysian Political World" in 1999, "Death Waits in the 'Dark': The Senoi Praaq, Malaysia's Killer Elite" in 2001 and "Ruslan of Malaysia: The Man Behind the Domino That Didn't Fall" in 2007. He has also contributed a number of articles to professional journals. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Jumper remains aware of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations, such as the Association for Asian Studies, the American Political Science Association and Pi Sigma Alpha.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Dr. Jumper has received a number of awards and accolades throughout his career. Notably, he was named a scholar in French history and French civil law by the University of Dijon in France from 1977 to 1979. He has also been featured in the 57th and 58th editions of Who's Who in America. Out of everything he has accomplished throughout his career, he is most proud of his time as a long-distance swimmer, which he credits with giving him the strength and drive to continue his work. In his free time, Dr. Jumper enjoys swimming, table tennis and United States Navy ships.
