Before embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Duryee pursued an education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in business in 1961 and a Master in Business Administration in 1969. During this time, he served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964, rising to the rank of captain and commanding officer of an Artillery Battery. Mr. Duryee began his business career as a lending officer with Seattle First National Bank in 1964, rising to vice president and manager of corporate management services within the company until 1980.
In 1980 Mr. Duryee founded Management Advisory Services, Inc. This company was dedicated to helping businesses achieve financial success and developed and produced seminars and workshops that were conducted both nationally and internationally. Many programs outside the United States were offered under the sponsorship of USAID.
Mr. Duryee continued his career in business consulting as a managing principal with Moss Adams LLP from 1994 to 2001 before securing the position of managing director with Horizon Management Service LLC, a position he has held since 2002. He has also excelled as an advisor and is the author of"60 Minute CFO: Bridging the Gap Between Owner, Banker and CPA" since 2017. Outside of his own business responsibilities, Mr. Duryee has been appointed to the board of directors for several corporations.
A certified SCORE advisor, Mr. Duryee occasionally works as a national lecturer to business owners and financial professionals. In addition to his abovementioned publication, he authored "Lead to Succeed: The Closely Held Business Survival Manual" in 2015 and "The Business Owners Guide to Achieving Financial Success" in 1994. Mr. Duryee has further written several articles published in professional journals.
During his service with the United States Army, Mr. Duryee was presented with the Army Commendation Medal for Outstanding Leadership. He also accepted a diploma from the Pacific Coast Banking Schools in Seattle, WA in 1973, graduating with honors. In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Duryee is most proud of his ability to use his publications to instill knowledge upon business owners who desire success.
