She also worked at Webster University in Sarasota as a faculty and student admissions adviser between 2001 and 2004. During this time Dr Wish and her husband wrote an advice column for SRQ Magazine. She also is the author of her first book, "Incest, Work, and Women," published by Charles C. Thomas in 1998. Dr. Wish has long been interested in women's career and relationship issues. She pioneered the connection between some women's work issues and childhood sexual abuse.
From that research, she also discovered that many non-abused women had specific issues in their love life. This finding prompted her to extend her research to non-abused women's intimate relationships for her next book, "Smart Relationships: How Successful Women Can Find True Love," published by New Horizons Press. She also turned these findings into a self-help cartoon book, "The Love Adventures of Almost Smart Cookie," that covers a year in Cookie's life as she makes the key love missteps, where each cartoon is based on the findings in Dr. Wish's research. She says that "when something bothers me that I cannot understand or fully help others, I do research so that people can trust my advice." And, finally, all these previous findings led to her next two books, "Training Your Love Intuition for Wise Relationship Choices" and "Training Your Love Intuition for Widowhood and Partner Loss." She discovered why your love intuition can be strong--but wrong! All her research is based on more than 2,500 participants.
Dr. Wish began her career as a therapist and supervisor at Cumberland Mental Health Services in Chambersburg and Waynesboro, PA, from 1979-1980. She also served as the Head of Social Work and Family for the Linwood School in Ellicott City, MD, from 1980 to 1981.
Moreover, Dr. Wish served as a board member of the Sarasota Women's Resource Center, from 2009 and 2015. Dr. Wish is also the founder of www.lovevictory.com. Her website focuses on empowering individuals on becoming brave, smart, and intuitive in their love and work lives, as well as their overall happiness. Dr. Wish pursued a formal education at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history and English in 1970. Soon thereafter, she obtained a Master of Arts in English from Ohio University in 1971 and a Master of Arts in social service and management from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania in 1976. Moreover, she graduated with a Doctor of Education in developmental psychology from the University of Massachusetts in 1996. Additionally, Dr. Wish completed a three-year post degree training in multiple generational family theory and therapy with the Family and Marital Theory Center at Georgetown University, with the esteemed Murray Bowen, MD.
Civically, Dr. Wish was a contributing writer and member of the medical advisory board for Qualityhealth.com, a chairperson for the Sarasota's Women's Advisory Commission between 2008 and 2016, and co-developer of the free family counseling network for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Wish has been the recipient of the Women of Impact Award from the Focus on Women Magazine, a Best Small Press Award from the Maryland State Arts Council, and an award from Mortar Board, to name a few.
