PROVIDENCE, RI, August 02, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Allan Feldman, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Feldman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A professor emeritus of economics at Brown University since 2009, Dr. Feldman led a wonderful career in academia that spanned nearly 40 years. Hired by the aforementioned university as an assistant professor in 1971, he excelled through the posts of an associate professor and a full professor. During his tenure, Dr. Feldman taught thousands of students on investments and economics, directed the graduate studies in the department of economics for several years and the undergraduate studies for many more years. In retirement, Dr. Feldman continues to conduct research in welfare economics, social choice theory, law and economics and related topics.
Considered one of the best-known economists in New England, Dr. Feldman has devoted a significant amount of time in the field as both a consultant and forensic economist since the 1970s. He has occasionally worked on other special projects as well, including economic impact statements. As an economics expert, Dr. Feldman has served in death and disability cases, divorce cases, business loss cases and, on rare occasions, criminal cases, as well as having notably testified many times in state and federal courts across the northeast and in numerous interest arbitrations.
Dr. Feldman has authored several books over the years, including two editions of "Welfare Economics and Social Choice Theory" in 1980 and in 2006 as well as "A Short Course in Intermediate Microeconomics with Calculus" in 2013 and in 2018. "A Short Course" is an intermediate level undergraduate microeconomics textbook aimed at university students worldwide and is now used in Economics 1110 at Brown University. It has since also been translated into Spanish and Chinese.
Initially pursuing an education at the University of Chicago, Dr. Feldman graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1965 and a Master of Arts in anthropology in 1967. He subsequently attended the Johns Hopkins University, ultimately accepting a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1972. Choosing economics as a field of study, Dr. Feldman enjoyed the fact that it utilizes a substantial amount of mathematics and ties in with social and governmental policy.
Dr. Feldman is a member of the National Association of Forensic Economists and the American Law and Economic Association. He is also associated with the Rhode Island Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Kappa as a member and a past treasurer. The recipient of a fellowship from Johns Hopkins University in 1970 and a Richard D. Irwin fellowship from the Richard D. Irwin Foundation in 1971, Dr. Feldman has been featured in approximately 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Allan Feldman, PhD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
