With more than 40 years of experience in corporate leadership to his credit, Mr. Weber has become an authority in his industry. He began his career path as the assistant to the executive director of the American Oil Chemists' Society from 1962 to 1967. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Weber excelled at the Institute of Food Technologists as the administration manager from 1967 to 1969, the director of convention services from 1969 to 1979, the director of marketing and meetings from 1979 to 1991 and the executive director from 1991 to 1999. He ended his career in 2006 after seven years as the executive vice president and chief executive officer of the Institute of Food Technologists.
Prior to becoming an esteemed corporate leader, Mr. Weber pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Science in business management at DePaul University in 1962. He was mentored by Doug Ducay, a long-time colleague, and Roy Evans, a retired executive director of the Professional Convention Management Association.
Apart from his career, Mr. Weber volunteered in his field and community. He was the chairman of the 25th Anniversary Committee City of Rolling Meadows, as well as the treasurer, board of directors member and vice president of the Northwest Mental Health Association, from whom he received a Distinguished Service Award. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Weber remains informed of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations. He sat on the board of directors for the Professional Convention Management Association in 1992, the American Society of Association Executives in 1987 and the National Association of Exposition Managers in 1988. Likewise, Mr. Weber sat on the task force on reorganization at the Convention Liaison Council and was the chairman of directory advertising at the Chicago Society of Association Executives. He has three children and nine grandchildren. In his free time, Mr. Weber enjoys golfing.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Mr. Weber has received a number of accolades throughout his career. He was named Meeting Planner of the Year from the Association of Convention Operations Management in 1990 and was named to the Hall of Leaders by the Convention Management Association Panel in 1999. Mr. Weber has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America and the 28th through 37th editions of Who's Who in the Midwest.
