Ms. Zuber has accrued more than five decades of experience as a career counselor and an educator. Prior to her retirement, she found success as the founder, the principal, and a counselor of career and life planning for Norma Zuber and Associates in Ventura, California from 1987 to 2014. Previously, she contributed to the BFC Counseling Center in Ventura as a career development counselor between 1984 and 1987. Ms. Zuber began her career as an intensive care nurse at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans from 1956 to 1959.
With a number of professional endeavors to her credit, Ms. Zuber has worked as an instructor of the adult continuing education program at Ventura College since 1987, having previously served as an instructor with the University of California, the University of California Santa Barbara, and California State University, Northridge. Associated with the Ventura County Star as a freelance columnist since 2006, she was a member of the advisory council on teacher education at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, between 1984 and 1987. Civically, she has been active with the Ventura Missionary Church as the chairman of the board of directors for women's ministries. Recognized as a respected voice in the industry, Ms. Zuber co-authored the book, "The Nuts and Bolts of Career Counseling: How to Set Up and Succeed in Private Practice," which was published in 1992.
For her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Zuber has been the recipient of the Professional Contribution Award from the H.B. McDaniel Foundation, the Career Development Practitioner of the Year Award from the International Career Development Conference, the Spirit of Networking Award from the Ventura County Professional Women's Network, and the Government Relations Committee Certificate of Appreciation, among other accolades. In order to remain current with educational and career trends, she maintains her professional affiliation with the National Association of Female Executives, the American Counseling Association, the National Career Development Association, the California Association for Counseling and Development, and the California Career Development Association. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Ms. Zuber enjoys opera and traveling in her spare time.
