Esther E. Watson was the president of the New Jersey Society Post Anesthesia Nurses, and she remains a member of the New Jersey State Nurses Association.

Accruing over 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Watson retired from the Morristown Medical Center (formerly known as the Morristown Memorial Hospital) in 1994. In the years prior, she found much success as a staff nurse in the post anesthesia care unit at the hospital from 1974 to 1994. Her career in nursing began as an operating room nursing supervisor at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital in 1950. Additionally, she was employed as a staff nurse and part-time night supervisor in Morristown, New Jersey, from 1964 to 1974.
Ms. Watson began her initial studies at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center at Arnot Health, where she earned a Diploma in 1950. She completed further coursework at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1984. Although, her involvement in her profession began long before college, as her grandmother and great aunt fostered a potential in her that they recognized when she was just a child.
Citing it as the highlight of her career, Ms. Watson was given the honor of naming the library at the National Office for the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses in 2018. She was also recognized as a legacy by the organization in the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing in 2018. From 1986 to 1988, she was the president of the New Jersey Society Post Anesthesia Nurses, and she remains a member of the New Jersey State Nurses Association. Since 1992, she has been a historian for the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses, having contributed as a co-chair for the historical committee from 1989 to 1992.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Watson was highlighted in several Who's Who publications. Listed in the third edition of Who's Who Among Human Service Professionals, she was further featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who of American Women.
