Previously, she gained valuable expertise as the owner of Ellisor Law LLC from 2018 until 2019, a judicial clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon in 2018, an associate attorney for Holland & Knight LLP between 2017 and 2018, and submissions editor of Lewis & Clark Law Review from 2016 to 2017. Earlier, Ms. Ellisor served as a judicial extern to the Honorable U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacie F. Beckerman of the U.S. District Courts, and as a summer associate for Holland & Knight in 2016. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Ellisor pursued coursework in Spanish language and literature through the Universidad de Belgrano in 2012 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 2013. Subsequently, she earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Lewis & Clark Law School and was admitted to practice law through the Oregon State Bar in 2017. Ms. Ellisor maintains her professional alignment with the Oregon Women Lawyers, Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and Women's White Collar Defense Association.
With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Ellisor has contributed to such articles as "Oregon's Death Penalty: A Cost Analysis" and "Faith-Based Rehabilitation Programs and the Establishment Clause: What Lower Courts Are Getting Wrong in the Absence of Supreme Court Precedent and How to Fix It."

She frequently visits the Oregon State Penitentiary to assist with the Lifers' Unlimited and Uhuru Sasa clubs' reform efforts inside and outside Oregon prisons. She has also practiced civil rights litigation and indigent criminal defense in state and federal court; and has represented petitioners for post-conviction relief, clemency, and parole. She has also worked with the ACLU of Oregon on its efforts to persuade Oregon's district attorneys to have written, publicly available policies governing the essential duties of their offices. As a member of the Oregon Women Lawyers for a Fresh Start committee, Laney organizes a monthly women's group for residents of the Northwest Regional Re-Entry Center (women who are transitioning from federal prison to the community).
For her professional achievements, she has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including the J.R. Morris Campus Life Award through the University of Oklahoma, the Jo Anne J. Trow Award from Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, and the Oklahoma State Regents' Scholar Award through the University of Oklahoma. Ms. Ellisor has likewise been honored with the Byron L. Abernathy and Foster-Harris scholarships from Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, the David L. Boren and Richard Hall Editor scholarships from the University of Oklahoma, and a dean's scholarship through Lewis & Clark Law School.
