With 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Wald was a rehabilitation and art therapist with New York Presbyterian Hospital from 1994 to 2012, and art therapist with Hospice of Westchester, White Plains, NY, from 1999 to 2001. Prior to obtaining this role, she was an art and recreation therapist with Waveny Care Center, New Canaan, CT from 1991 to 1992 and with Westchester Jewish Community Services, White Plains, NY from 1989 to 1994. Ms. Wald was previously an assistant professor of art therapy with Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, from 1987 to 1989 and an expressive art therapy supervisor at Northern Westchester Hospital, Mount Kisco, NY, from 1986 to 1987.
From 1989 to 2016 Ms. Wald was adjunct assistant professor of art therapy at College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, NY, at lona College, Yonkers, NY, from 1990 to 1992, and at University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT, from 1985 to 1987.
From 1979 to 1986, Ms. Wald was an activity therapy supervisor and art therapist with the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, White Plains, NY, and from 1978 to 1979 was a counselor and teacher with Hall-Brooke School, Westport, CT. She served previously as an art teacher with Windsor High School, Windsor, CT from 1974 to 1975 and with the Peekskill City School District from 1970 to 1971. Ms. Wald began her career as an art therapist with the Gehah Psychiatric Hospital, Petach Tikvah, Israel from 1972 to 1973.
Her academic studies were at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French in 1967. Continuing her studies, she went on to earn a Master of Science in art education at Southern Connecticut State College, New Haven, CT, in 1974. She later studied art therapy at University of Bridgeport, CT, New York University, and College of New Rochelle and completed certification as a registered art therapist in 1981. A board registered art therapist, she is also licensed as a creative arts therapist and holds teaching certification in nursery, elementary, and secondary art, as well as French from the California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland, CA.
Ms. Wald served on the Journal of Art Therapy Editorial Review Board for 13 years and as a reviewer for the AATA (American Art Therapy Association) annual conference. Her articles, chapters, and book reviews were published in professional journals and books. She presented lectures and papers at conferences, workshops and Grand Rounds, and gave seminars in the USA, Finland, Korea, and Canada.
She has been filmed in professional films. A practicing artist, Ms. Wald has shown paintings and sculptures in art shows.
