Mr. Kreines is a talented musician and conductor who retired from Treasure Coast Symphony in 2003. A native of Chicago, he was originally hired as a conductor of the University of Chicago Symphony between 1957 and 1959. He subsequently became an associate conductor of the Florida Symphony Orchestra in Orlando and conductor of the Brevard Symphony, an associate conductor of the Florida Orchestra in Tampa, and a musical director for numerous opera and musical theatre productions throughout his career.
Over the years, Mr. Kreines has enjoyed the opportunity to meet and collaborate with many notable conductors, composers, and musicians. He has composed several original works for media, as well as transcriptions for concert band and brass choir. He has likewise served as an instrumental music clinician and a guest conductor for approximately 300 bands, orchestras, and choruses throughout the state of Florida throughout his affiliation. Mr. Krienes has likewise appeared as an accompanist at many recitals, and as a consultant in the field. In 1989, he notably authored "Music for Concert Band," an annotated guide to band literature.
An alumnus of the University of Chicago, Mr. Kreines earned both a Bachelor of Arts in academic studies in 1955, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in music in 1956. Later attending the University of South Florida, he obtained a Master of Arts in music in 1977. Mr. Kreines is an honorary life member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, and additionally affiliates with the Music Educators National Conference, and the Florida Orchestra Association.
Playing piano since the age of six, he became a professional coach and accompanist for numerous clinics and recitals. He was conductor of the All-State Band in Florida and All-State Band for ninth and 10th grade in Georgia. He promptly received numerous plaques for his outstanding achievements as a special clinician conductor for ensembles across Florida, and was named to the Florida Band Master Association Hall of Fame. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Kreines has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
