Having enjoyed a career of almost 50 years in the field of agriculture all of which was in South Carolina, Mr. Adams currently owns and operates JLA Consulting Service, Incorporation. He started the business after retiring from Bayer CropScience, where he worked as a Crop Specialist from 2006 to 2011. He also previously excelled as an Agricultural Specialist for Aventis Crop Science from 1999 to 2006, Rhone Poulenc Agricultural Company from 1986 to 1999 and Union Carbide Agricultural Products from 1972 to 1986. His retirement party is by far the one of the highlights of his career as he was treated to the sight of over 125 people coming from all over to celebrate the event.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Adams pursued studies at Southeast Missouri State University. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science. Afterwards, he completed service in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972. Having both his grandfather and father work as farmers gave Mr. Adams a deep appreciation for the field of agriculture from an early age, and in his mind there was no question of what his profession would be.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Adams is a member of the South Carolina Pesticide Association, for which he held the title of president in 1983. The South Carolina Agricultural Aviation Association presented him with an Agrinaut Recognition Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of agricultural aircraft operations. In order to receive the award, the recipient must have contributed significantly for the benefit of the agricultural aircraft industry. Additionally, Mr. Adams is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Freemasons.
