An acclaimed business executive with a reputation for company turnaround, Mr. Glass has saved more than 200 companies and manufacturing facilities from bankruptcy. Since 2005, he has served as the chairman of Stony Point Group, Inc. Additionally, he is the chairman of TECT Corp., UCA Holdings, Utica Corp., and NWI Holdings. In 1985, he established Glass & Associates and found success there as the chairman and the president for almost 30 years. Previously in his professional journey, Mr. Glass held various executive roles for such companies as Union Metal Manufacturing Company, Massey Ferguson Ltd., Perkins Diesel Corp., and Fiat Allis Construction Machinery, Inc. Mr. Glass' inaugural role in the field was with Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company, with which he worked from 1963 until 1973. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of not just saving companies, but more specifically, saving the jobs of workers.
A registered professional engineer and certified turnaround professional, Mr. Glass earned a mechanical engineering degree and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1963 and 1965, respectively. He has had an interest in engineering since he was a child; his father, an engineer, focused him in that direction. As his career developed, he became more involved in the business aspect of it and was fortunate enough to learn about financial structuring and business management. His advice to others entering the field is to learn how to communicate well, articulate your position, and learn how to solve problems. He was fortunate that he worked in many diverse places for various companies in different countries. He gained a breath of experience that most do not receive, and along the way he learned how to work and communicate with people.
He networks with other industry professionals via his affiliations with the Turnaround Management Association, the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. In civic affairs, Mr. Glass contributes his time and resources to the YMCA, the North Carolina Outward Bound School and the eponymous Glass Foundation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Glass has been honored numerous times, earning the Lifetime Achievement Award through the University of Cincinnati, the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, an article in Forbes Magazine and various patents in the field. In 1964, he married Nancy Romanek, and together they are the proud parents of two children, Ryan and Lara. In addition to spending time with his family, Mr. Glass indulges in such hobbies as flying and Judo.
