Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Schaub pursued higher education after earning a diploma from MMI Preparatory School in Freeland, Pennsylvania, in 1946. He enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government in 1950. A short time later, he secured a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Yale University and was admitted by the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1955. Mr. Schaub later completed postgraduate coursework at Columbia University in 1962.
Mr. Schaub began his tenure with the law firm Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads in Philadelphia as an associate in 1955. He further progressed to a partner with the firm and later became of counsel to the firm. During this time, he contributed as a dean and chief executive officer for the Consular Corps College in Bethesda, Maryland, between 1998 and 2004, while simultaneously returning of counsel with Montgomery, Walker & Rhoads in 1999, and remaining with the firm since. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he has been the consul general for the Republic of Austria to the State of Pennsylvania since 1984, having previously contributed as consul of the Republic of Austria to the State of Pennsylvania from 1978 to 1984.
A former United States Army captain, Mr. Schaub also served the Yugoslav Desk Officer in G2 Intelligence branch of the Pentagon Chief between 1951 and 1953. For his service, he was decorated with the Grand Cross of Honor of the Republic of Austria. Mr. Schaub was also presented the Johann Strauss Award by the City of Vienna, Austria, in 1979.
An active member of his community, Mr. Schaub has dedicated time as a member of the board of directors for the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA and The Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion in Philadelphia. An expert and respected voice in the industry, he has contributed a number of articles to professional journals including "General Lahousen and the Abwehr Resistance," and "Call Your First Witness." A member of the John Peter Zenger Law Society, he also maintains a professional relationship with the Austrian Society of Pennsylvania, the Military Order of Foreign Wars, the American Council on Germany, and The Athenaeum of Philadelphia. Outside of work, Mr. Schaub enjoys being an historian for eras including World War II, the resistance against Hitler, and Eastern Europe.
