MONETA, VA, August 20, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Pamela Chase Hain with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Hain celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Hain originally spent 15 years employed with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Washington, D.C. and in Bonn, Germany as an intelligence analyst, and in Vienna, Austria as a photographic technician. When her husband was stationed in Copenhagen, Denmark, her work as FAWCO representative (Federation of American Women Clubs Overseas) resulted in her being elected President of the American Woman's Club, Copenhagen. After returning to the States, she worked as a real estate agent and a librarian in the town of Vienna, Virginia. In more recent years, Ms. Hain has focused her efforts as both historian and writer.
In 2005, Ms. Hain published a biography called "A Confederate Chronicle: The Life of a Civil War Survivor," published through the University of Missouri Press. The book presents the remarkable life of Thomas L. Wragg who served in both the Confederate army and navy and endured incarceration as a prisoner of war. Several years later she authored "Murder in the State Capital: The Biography of Robert Augustus Alston" in 2013 through Mercer University Press. In this book, Ms. Hain takes readers on a journey following the transformation of Robert Augustus Alston from a 19th century slave owner and white supremacist to a crusader for reform in the treatment of mostly black convicts in post-war Georgia. She also touches on the complexities of her own family history, which includes slave trade ownership.
Ms. Hain received an Associate of Arts at Pine Manor Junior College in 1956. She soon after transferred to Syracuse University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 1958. Several years later, she earned a Master of Arts in Slavic Languages and Literature at the Russian Institute at Columbia University in 1962. Leveraging a requirement that she speak fluent Russian in order to be accepted into the Institute, this degree ultimately enabled her to gain acceptance into the CIA where she could use her language skills.
Ms. Hain is a member and the former chairman of the American Association of University Women scholarship committee. She is also a member of the South Carolina Historical Society, the Georgia Historical Society, the Morgan's Men Association, and the Roanoke Civil War Round Table. Locally, she has been active as a former secretary for the Boardwalk Property Owners Association in Moneta, Virginia, where she currently resides. She was also a member of the "Ladies of the Lake," a musical trio that performed for six years at various locations in Southwest Virginia. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Hain has been featured in every edition of Who's Who in America since 2008, as well as several editions of Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Pamela Chase Hain has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
