Dr. Bosnar is a noteworthy medical university administrator and a physician who has been a member of the faculty of medicine at the University of Rijeka in Croatia since 1988. During his career, he served as the head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine on campus between 2004 and 2013 and as the vice dean of the faculty of medicine between 2008 and 2011. He also spent time on the university's trade union of science and education. Dr. Bosnar was appointed as a full professor at the university in 2010, and in 2015. he was elected as a full professor without a mandate limit.
Dr. Bosnar received a medical and doctorate degree in Rijeka. He also received a specialist certification in forensic medicine in Zagreb. He completed his residency work at the Clinical Hospital in Rijeka between 1988 and 1989. Specializing in forensic medicine, Dr. Bosnar has notably performed forensic autopsies and identified war victims during combat operations.
An elected fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Science, Dr. Bosnar is also a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners. He formerly served as a representative for the Croatian Professional Association of Forensic Experts in Zagreb from 1998 to 2002 and remains a member of the Croatian Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization since 2004.
