With more than 30 years of experience in law to his credit, Mr. Pollihan has become an authority in his industry. He began his career path as a judicial law clerk to a Judge Stewart at the Missouri Court of Appeals. In 1976 he became an associate and later a partner at the Greenfield, Davidson, Mandelstamm & Voorhees law firm in St Louis. He then joined Kellwood Company, a Fortune 500 international apparel manufacturer, as a staff attorney in 1982 and was promoted to general counsel and corporate secretary in 1989. As he took on more business responsibilities he was given additional successively higher vice president titles culminating as executive vice president, the third highest ranking officer of Kellwood. Mr. Pollihan was an adjunct professor at the Boeing Institute of International Business at St Louis University teaching international negotiations from 2001 to 2004.
Prior to becoming an esteemed lawyer, Mr. Pollihan pursued higher education with a Bachelor 0 Arts in sociology from Quincy University in 1972. He received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 as a Judge Kiley scholar, and an Executive Masters International Business from Saint Louis University in 1992. Permitted to practice law by the Missouri Bar and the Illinois Star Bar Association, the proudest moment of Mr. Pollihan's legal career was the recognition by his company of both his legal and business abilities.
Apart from his professional journey, Mr. Pollihan has volunteered prolifically in his field and community. He was the director and the secretary of New Piasa Chautauqua from 1996 to 1997, the board president of the Lake St Louis Community Association from 2011 to 2014 and has been a board trustee of Quincy University or over 20 years. He is a past Board member of the World Affairs Council and Boys Hope Girls Hope in St Louis and a MENSA member. After studying law in London for one year, he became an ardent international traveler and has visited more than forty foreign countries. OutsIde of his formal responsibilities, Mr. Pollihan remains informed of the changes and advancements in his industry through such relevant organizations as the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Mr. Pollihan has received a number of awards accolades throughout his career. He was named to the Saint Louis Soccer Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Athletics Hall of Fame at Quincy University in 1988. Mr. Pollihan was named Alumnus of the Year by both Quincy University and the Boeing Institute in 1997. He has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the Midwest. Mr. Pollihan married Donna M. Bickhaus in 1973, alongside whom he is proud of daughter Emily, who has earned both biology and nursing degrees, and their granddaughters Mavis and Wren.
