FAIRFAX, VA, August 23, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Adelbert Carpenter with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Carpenter celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A retired colonel and a command pilot, Mr. Carpenter was inspired to pursue his career path because of his father and two uncles, all of whom were aeronautical engineers. After seeing a film about the United States Air Force Academy in the late 1950s, he was determined to foster his fascination with flying and use that energy to serve his country. In 1967, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and advanced through the grades to the rank of a colonel. He is a Vietnam War veteran who in 1975 was selected to fly the world famous Mach 3+ SR-71 aircraft worldwide. During the 1980s he had a Pentagon leadership assignment, led fellow airmen as the commander of the 70th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Moody Air Force Base and was director of programs for the U.S. Air Force in Europe Headquarters at Ramstein Air Base. From there, he transferred to the 377th Combat Support Wing as a commander before becoming the vice commander of the Second Air Force at Beale Air Force Base in 1991. Between 1995 and his retirement in 2013, Mr. Carpenter held roles of increasing responsibility with Falls Church division of the E-Systems Company, Raytheon, and L-3 Communications.
Mr. Carpenter began working toward his dream of a military career through a Bachelor of Science in international affairs, which he earned from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1967. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1974. In order to remain aware of industry changes, he affiliates himself with the Air Force Association and the Association for U.S. Air Force Academy Graduates as a lifetime member. Since his retirement, Mr. Carpenter has served as a docent for the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, which has been a career highlight. Through the Museum, he has also put together videos on the history of the SR-71, a strategic reconnaissance airplane.
Due to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Carpenter has been presented with two Decorated Legion of Merit recognitions, five Air Medals, and induction into the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame in 2017. A celebrated Marquis listee, he also bears the distinction of being featured in publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in the World. In the coming years, Mr. Carpenter aims to continue giving tours at the Smithsonian Institution and spending time with his wife, Nancy and their three daughters, Kristin, Kimberly, and Kelli.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Adelbert Carpenter has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
