Dr. Schmid holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics since 1968 and a Doctor of Philosophy in physics since 1977. His doctoral dissertation was in quantum physics. He later acquired a diploma in depth psychology as an analytical psychologist from the C.G. Jung Institute in 1988. An accredited supervisor, a trainer, and a practitioner in medical hypnosis, he was recognized by the SMSH since the mid-1990s and is likewise federally licensed as a psychotherapist and a medical hypnotherapist in Switzerland. Dr. Schmid notably speaks fluent English and German.
A member of numerous industry-related organizations, Dr. Schmid is affiliated with the International Association for Analytical Psychology, the Swiss Psychotherapists Organization, the Swiss Society for Medical Hypnosis, the International Society of Hypnosis, and the European Society of Hypnosis. He later secured a National Science Foundation grant in chemistry between 1964 and 1965, and a Fulbright scholarship in physics from the Deutsche Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) between 1970 and 1971.
