Having a career of over 60 years in the industry, Mr. Weiner has been with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP since 1958, serving in several capacities throughout the firm's history and a name change from Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts. In 1958, he started as an associate with the firm before departing for a short time to the University of California Berkeley, where he was an acting professor of law from 1965 to 1968. Returning to Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts, he was a partner with the firm from 1968 to 2000. He found great success with the firm and held a number of positions with them. From 1984 to 1997, Mr. Weiner was the vice chairman of the management committee, a partner in 2001, and senior counsel from 2002 to the present.
Additionally, Mr. Weiner has taken on a number of posts outside of the law firm. He has excelled as an arbitrator for FINRA and is presently an adjunct professor of law for the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and Brooklyn Law School. From 1998, he has been a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness for the 1st Department Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York, as well as a Special Master for the Court. Mr. Weiner is a member of the New York State Judicial Institute on Professionalism in the Law and was a special professor of law at Hofstra University.
Mr. Weiner began his educational career at Harvard University, from which he graduated summa cum laude in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts. He subsequently completed further coursework at the Yale Law School, choosing the school over Harvard Business School. After his graduation, Mr. Weiner was admitted to practice law by the New York State Bar and the United States Supreme Court.
Listed in numerous editions of Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the East, Mr. Weiner is AV rated with Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America. He has contributed articles to legal publications and was the comment editor for the Yale Law Journal from 1956 to 1957. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the New York City Bar Association, Phi Beta Kappa, and the New York State Judicial Institute on Professionalism in the Law, among others.
