Mr. McKissick is a retired transportation engineer with more than 35 years of accomplishment in the field. Inspired by his father and grandfather, he took an early interest in engineering, and completed an Associate of Science degree in mechanical design at the Pittsburgh Technical College in 1979, returning to obtain an Associate of Science degree in computer systems management in 1985. Mr. McKissick is a licensed professional engineer, an achievement he considers a career highlight.
From 1974 to 1975, Mr. McKissick was an inventory control coordinator for Aerotech Inc. in Pittsburgh, before leaving to become owner and operator of Northern Photographic Services in Warren, Pennsylvania, from 1975 to 1977. He went on to work as a proposal engineer for Blaw-Knox in Pittsburgh from 1979 to 1980. Returning to teach at the Pittsburgh Technical College as an instructor from 1980 to 1982, he rose to the role of vice president from 1982 to 1985. In 1985, Mr. McKissick joined the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a consultant, becoming the CADD Manager in 1987, a role he would hold until his retirement in 2010. Mr. McKissick taught a course in Engineering Graphics at Carnegie Mellon University in 1982. He taught Engineering Mechanics – Dynamics Section to students in the Civil Engineering program at Pennsylvania College of Technology from 2007 through 2009.
Alongside his primary responsibilities, Mr. McKissick is a regular speaker in his field and notably authored "Computer-Aided Drafting and Design" in 1987. He was also recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the Pittsburgh Technical College in 2007 for excellence in his career. He is a member of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Civil Engineering Advisory Board. In his retirement, Mr. McKissick enjoys music production with a music video channel on YouTube.
