BOYNTON BEACH, FL, August 29, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Paul Pickholtz has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For fifty years he has worked to promote, maintain, and restore health through the study, diagnosis and treatment of disease in his patients. He has focused his practice on gastrointestinal disorders and advanced GI endoscopic procedures. His special areas of interest are chronic Hepatitis C, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and biliary tract disorders. He has worked long and inflexible hours and he never forgets his ethical and legal duties. Like the first five years of his medical training in Brooklyn, NY, the last ten years of his career in Gastroenterology have been devoted to caring for some of the medically underserved communities in West Virginia and Tennessee. In addition to individual evaluations and treatments, he has been able to establish departments of Clinical Gastroenterology that were lacking in these community hospitals, and that have continued to grow and serve after his departure.
He has served his country as a Commander and Medical Officer in the United States Army Medical Corps for two years in Korea and New Jersey. He was able to remarkably lower the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases where he was stationed overseas, and he became knowledgeable on the treatment of pit-viper snake bites. He made bi-weekly advisory medical rounds with Korean doctors at local hospitals, improving US-Korean relations. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in Korea. He left the Army Medical Corps after two years with the rank of Major.
Later in his medical career, he further gave back to his country by serving as a Gastroenterologist to the sick and deserving veterans at a Veterans Administration Medical Center in East Tennessee. VA hospitals frequently have shortages of specialty physicians.
Simultaneously, he was able to give back to his wonderful profession by teaching and mentoring GI Fellows at Eastern Tennessee State University Medical Center.
During these fifty years of being a practicing physician, his family has supported him unconditionally during the long daytime work hours, the demanding night call and the stressful times of moving to new and rewarding opportunities.
In return, he has been able to contribute with love to the health, happiness and success of his family members.
