With more than 40 years of experience in scientific research to his credit, Mr. Warren has become an authority in his industry. His career began at the PQ Corporation (previously known as the Philadelphia Quartz Company) as a research and development chemist from 1958 to 1963, a technical service representative from 1963 to 1966, a manager of research and development services from 1966 to 1970, and a technical service specialist from 1970 to 1972. He served as an international marketing specialist at the PQ Corporation from 1972 to 1975 and a market development specialist from 1976 to 1977. Mr. Warren ended his career in 1999 after 22 years as the research and development operations manager at the PQ Corporation.
Prior to becoming an esteemed research chemist, Mr. Warren pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. He was mentored and inspired by Claire Jeglum. Apart from his career, Mr. Warren volunteered in his field and community. He was active as the president of the Conshohocken Chamber of Commerce from 1993 to 1994.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Warren remains informed of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers, and the Society of Research Administrators International. Likewise, Mr. Warren is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemists.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Mr. Warren has received a number of accolades throughout his career. The highlights of his career were the opportunities he had to travel to trade shows around Europe. Mr. Warren won the Service Award from the American Chemical Society in 1988. He has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
Mr. Warren has also been recognized for his achievements in his avocation of philately. He is former president of the Scandinavian Collectors Club (1979-1982) as well as the American Philatelic Society's Writers Unit (1995-1999). He has written hundreds of articles in the field of stamp collecting that have appeared in over 70 journals worldwide. He has been recognized with distinguished service awards in several specialty societies, and is a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London.
Mr. Warren's achievements in this field have been recognized with the American Philatelic Society's John N. Luff award for exceptional contributions to philately (2002), the Collectors Club of New York's Alfred F. Lichtenstein award for service to philately (2013), and the American Philatelic Society's Charles J. Peterson Philatelic Literature Life Achievement Award (2012). In 2019 he signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
