He is also continuing to work in mechanical diagnostics and quantum optics. Prior to these roles, he worked as a research physicist with the United States Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., from 1973 to 2007. A lecturer at the Catholic University of America for eight years during this time, Dr. Reintjes began his career as a postdoctoral fellow at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, in 1971.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. Reintjes has contributed over 150 articles to professional journals as a result of his decades of research. Additionally, he authored the book "Nonlinear Optical Processes in Liquids and Gases," which was published by Academic Press in 1984. Having been awarded several patents in his field, Dr. Reintjes is most proud of the work he did on a mechanical diagnostics project during his time with the Naval Research Laboratory.
Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Reintjes earned a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1966 and a Doctor of Philosophy from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, in 1972. In an effort to remain up-to-date with developments in his career, he has maintained his affiliation with a number of professional organizations. A fellow of the Optical Society and the Washington Academy of Sciences, Dr. Reintjes holds further membership with the American Physical Society and Sigma Xi.
For excellence throughout his career, Dr. Reintjes has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades over the years. Notably, he accepted a Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Senior Professional in 2005 and a Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1985. In light of all his accomplishments, Dr. Reintjes has previously been featured in the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders of America and the 21st and 22nd editions of Who's Who in East.
