Dr. Petar J. Kostic's works have been published in Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B, Applied Superconductivity, Physica C, the Microelectronics Journal, Silicates Industriels, and Elsevier.
SOUTH BEND, WA, September 05, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Petar J. Kostic with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Kostic celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With over 35 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Kostic is an accomplished physicist specializing in condensed matter physics and materials sciences. Since 1999, he has found success as an independent consultant in the fields of applied physics. Prior to his current work, Dr. Kostic served as a visiting researcher with the University of California Santa Cruz from 1997 to 1999 and as a visiting scientist and assistant scientist at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois between 1991 and 1996.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Kostic cultivated his skills as an associate professor and an associate scientist at the University of Belgrade in Serbia from 1988 until 1991 and as a visiting scientist at the Argonne National Laboratory from 1987 to 1988. In 1988, he also served as a chair and a scientific committee member for Electroceramics II in Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Kostic began his career as a researcher and an assistant scientist at the Institute of Technical Sciences of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade between 1981 and 1987. He became a physicist because his father inspired him and told him to be a physicist when he was 6 years old. With the respect he had for his father, he kept his promise to be one. Dr. Kostic has always wanted to accomplish goals that others never thought of attempting or achieving -- this has been his motto in his life.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Kostic pursued an education at the University of Belgrade, first obtaining a Bachelor of Science in solid state physics of electronics materials in 1980. He went on to earn a Master of Science in material science and electronic ceramics, with his master's thesis "Study of the Interdependence of Structural and Electrical Properties of Multi-Component Ceramic on ZnO Basis," in 1984. In 1988, Dr. Kostic concluded his studies with the University of Belgrade, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in solid state physics upon the completion of his doctoral dissertation "Influences of Y-Ba-Cu-O Ceramic Stoichiometry Content on Electronic Carrier Formation and Transport, Especially Related to Superconducting Phenomenon."
Alongside his primary responsibilities, Dr. Kostic has been involved in the design and development of lab equipment and various professional techniques and methods. Some of his developments include, a laboratory device for precise cutting, a plan-parallel polishing device, an instrument for resistivity measurements of metals and an automatic four-probe resistivity measuring device, among others. Dr. Kostic has also performed work with synthesized materials, such as high temperature superconductor levitators and ferroelectric ceramic, and experimental techniques, such as superconductor resistivity measurements, thermally stimulated relaxation current measurements, and a self-flux single crystal growth technique.
Dr. Kostic is a recognized expert in his field and has published numerous papers in his field. His works have been published in such prestigious journals as Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B, Applied Superconductivity, Physica C, the Microelectronics Journal, Silicates Industriels, Elsevier and the Science of Sintering. Furthermore, he has had several lectures published in conference proceedings including "Materials Science – The Base of Progress in New Electronics," "Philosophies and Prognosis in High-TC Superconducting Ceramics" and Special Oxide Ceramic Materials." In order to keep abreast of developments in his field, Dr. Kostic has maintained affiliation with the American Physical Society, the Materials Research Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
An accomplished professional in his field, Dr. Kostic holds a total of eight patents, including two Yugoslav patents in 1984 and 1989 and one United States patent in 1998. For excellence in his field, he has been honored as one of 2,000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century in Cambridge, England. Additionally, Dr. Kostic has previously been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in the World.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Kostic has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
