Ms. Weston celebrates 28 years in library science, retiring in 1994 from her position as the chief librarian from the Army Ordnance Center and School at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. She previously worked on site as a reference librarian in the technical library for one year. Among other roles, Ms. Weston was a branch librarian at Chester Public Library and reference librarian at John Tyler Community College in Chester, Virginia. In addition to her full-time obligations as a librarian, Ms. Weston served on the job analysis task force for the Department of the Army in Washington. She also chaired the Aberdeen Proving Ground's media service committee.
Originally planning on becoming a teacher, after earning her bachelor's degree Ms. Weston returned to college in order to complete a library science degree. She notably obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Michigan in 1966, and graduated from Wayne State University in 1969 with a Master of Science in library science. Ms. Weston's additional educational pursuits have included postgraduate coursework at Catholic University of America and Brigham Young University. She is likewise a certified professional librarian in Virginia.
Active in her local community both during her career and long after she retired, Ms. Weston was a member of the James Buchanan Foundation in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the Fulton Opera House Foundation in Lancaster, the Friends Library of Southern Lancaster County in Quarryville, Pennsylvania, and the Humane League of Friends in Lancaster for many years. She has maintained her involvement with the Friends of Atglen Susquehanna Trail since 1994 and the Friends of the Library in Cocoa Beach since 1996. Additionally, she has maintained close affiliation with several pertinent organizations, including the Special Librarians Association, the Retired Officers Association, St. David's by the Sea Episcopal Church, in Cocoa Beach, FL and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Valrico, FL. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Weston has been featured in Who's Who in America, and Who's Who of American Women.
