Having accrued over 50 years of professional experience, Mr. Wirsching, now retired, was a trustee for the Wooster School from 2005 to 2009. He previously worked as an independent director for Emerson Radio Corp from 2006 to 2008. Previously, Mr. Wirsching held two director positions for Polly Peck International PLC from 1988 to 1990, and for BSR PLC, in London, from 1982 to 1986.
His career began in 1953, when he held the role of a tool and die maker for the Mercedes-Benz division of Daimler AG. In 1958 he went to the Philippines to join a local Electronic Company Radio Electronic Headquarters, Inc. in Manila, as Manager of Engineering. From 1974 to 1994, Mr. Wirsching found great success as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman and part owner of the Capetronic Group Limited.
In 1987 he sold the Capetronic Group of Companies to a London based Company Polly Peck International PLC, and joint the Board of Directors, responsible as CEO of a US$ 1 billion electronics division. Including the acquisition of 51% of Sansui Electric Company Ltd. listed on the first board of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
A valuable asset in the field, Mr. Wirsching has been quoted in many publications, including "Asil Nadir and the rise and fall of Polly Peck" by David Barchard of the Financial Times, "Who killed Polly Peck?" "The Sultan of Berkley Square", "Asil Nadir and the Thatcher Years," "The Turquoise Conspiracy", and in the Financial Times UK, leading Japanese, US, Hong Kong and Philippine papers. In recognition of personal commitment and one of the highlights of his career, he was the recipient of a Special Edition Macintosh computer by Steve Jobs. From 1962 to 1964 Mr. Wirsching was the Chairman of the Manila Philippines Chapter 165 of ASTME, now SME. He is a lifetime member of the organization since 1999. He was a member of the Manila Junior Chamber of Commerce, and completed an IBM Computer Executive Decision Making Course at the Ateneo de Manila in 1963. The recipients of numerous awards from industrial associations, technical societies and community groups. In 1991, was honored by the Anti-Defamation League, by receiving the first S. David Feir Humanitarian Award for achievements and dedication to the pursuit of excellence in the electronic industry.
