Dr. Kramer is a senior research associate with Exxon Research and Engineering Company in Annandale, New Jersey. During his career, he acquired 20 U.S. patents in his field and has authored or coauthored more than 50 articles in scholarly publications, such as the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Two of his publications were titled "Mechanism of Acid Catalyzed Reactions" and "Synthesis of Volatile Uranyl Compounds."
An alumnus of Queen's College, City University of New York, Dr. Kramer received a Bachelor of Science in 1951. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he acquired both a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in 1955 and 1957, respectively. He notably served in the U.S. Army between 1952 and 1954.
A well-known chess player who began playing the game as a child, by the time Dr. Kramer had reached high school he had begun participating in and winning local chess competitions, including the New York State Chess Championship in 1945 at the age of 16. One year later, he debuted at the U.S Chess Championship, ranking in ninth place. After winning some local titles, he then won the U.S. Speed Championship in Detroit in 1950. As a result, he was asked to be on the U.S. Olympic team in Dubrovnik in 1950 and won the Chess Olympiad individual bronze medal. Dr. Kramer since also won three New Jersey State Chess Championships in 1964, 1967 and 1969 and the Manhattan Chess Club Championship. He has participated in the U.S. National Championships and the United States Open.
Mr. Kramer is a member of the American Chemical Society, the United States Chess Federation, Sigma Xi and B'nai B'rith. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been featured in the 44th and 45th editions of Who's Who in America.
