After serving a clerkship with Chief Justice Joseph Weintraub of the New Jersey Supreme Court, Mr. Mytelka practiced law as a partner at Clapp & Eisenberg and, since 1994, as a member of the firm of Kraemer Burns, P.A. He holds an A.B. degree from Princeton University and an LL.B., cum laude, from the Harvard Law School. Subsequently, he was awarded Harvard's Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship for study at the London School of Economics.
A member of the bar of New Jersey and of several federal courts, Mr. Mytelka litigates complex cases, including business, land use, professional responsibility, real estate and trusts. He is a member of the American Law Institute (Consultative Groups: Restatements of "The Law Governing Lawyers," "Restitution and Unjust Enrichment" and "Conflict of Laws") and of the Editorial Board of the New Jersey Law Journal (Alfred C. Clapp Award, 2008).
Mr. Mytelka has served in many pro bono positions. He was a founding trustee of the Newark Legal Services Project and was president of the Legal Services Foundation of Essex County. He served as chairman of the Land Use Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and lectured on land use law at the Rutgers University School of Law (Newark). He was chairman of the New Jersey Supreme Court's District V Ethics Committee and chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ramapo College of New Jersey.
By appointment of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Mr. Mytelka has acted as Special Master, Liquidating Trustee, Special Fiscal Agent, Discovery Master, Receiver and Mediator. He has also served as a member of the United States District Court Merit Selection Panel for Appointment of a Magistrate Judge and has acted as Special Counsel to the Borough of Paramus, to Harding Township and to the Board of Education of the City of Englewood.
