With more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Suhr has operated out of his private practice at the Law Offices of Paul A. Suhr, PLLC, since 1989. Prior to establishing his own firm, he worked as a librarian with North Carolina State University from 1980 to 1985, and the director of the Pender County Public Library from 1978 to 1980. Mr. Suhr began his career as a bibliographer with the State Library of North Carolina from 1975 to 1978.
Mr. Suhr initially pursued an education at Campbell University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1968. He continued his academic efforts at the University of North Carolina, obtaining a Master of Arts in 1970 and a Master of Science in 1975. He concluded his studies at North Carolina Central University, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1988. Subsequently, Mr. Suhr has been admitted to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar, as well as before the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
A respected leader in his community, Mr. Suhr has been an active voice in his community. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the AAJ, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He has also been active with the North Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and the District of Columbia Bar. A former member of the board of directors of the Wake County Bar Association, Mr. Suhr has also served as the chair and as a member of the Human Resources and Human Relations Advisory Commission of the city of Raleigh, NC.
Throughout his career, Mr. Suhr has been celebrated for his exemplary contributions to his field. A grantee of the North Carolina Humanities Committee, he accepted a Presidential Award from the president of Korea. Moreover, Mr. Suhr has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
