Mr. Diamondstone is a lawyer with more than 40 years of experience in cases regarding social justice issues. He attended the University of California Berkeley, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Diamondstone earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Washington in 1976 and was admitted to practice law by the Washington State Bar Association the same year.
Mr. Diamondstone began his career in 1974 as an intern for California Congressman Robert Leggett. He was a teaching assistant at the University of Washington School of Law from 1974 until 1975, and subsequently entered solo practice in Seattle in 1977. He would remain in solo practice until 1993, when he became an associate at the firm Gorshong, Lehet, & Thornton of Seattle. He received the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA, now Washington State Association for Justice, WSAJ) Public Justice Award in 1997. In 1999, he received the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) President's Award. Mr. Diamondstone has found success in sole practice in the Seattle area since 1996.
Mr. Diamondstone has been sworn in to practice law before the United States District Court of Washington for the Western and Eastern Districts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He served as chair of the Washington State Bar corrections committee between 1991 and 1992 and the court rules and procedures committee from 1998 to 1999. He is an American Civil Liberties Union cooperating attorney for the state of Washington since 1979. Mr. Diamondstone is proud of his work on class action jail condition cases against the King County Jail and Pierce County Jail, and his continued work with the Homeless to Renter program.

Ruffino v. Puyallup, 377 F.Supp.3d 1205 (W.O. Wash. 2019) (free speech case on behalf of initiative signature gatherer, holding that municipal regulation of First Amendment activity on the sidewalk outside state fairgrounds was not narrowly tailored, at one of the fair's main entrances);
Osborne vs. Seymour, 164 Wash. App. 820, 265 P.3d 917 (2011) (upholding verdict for general and punitive damages against police sergeant who violated Fourth Amendment rights of a Domestic Violence victim);
Plemmons v. Pierce County, 134 Wash. App. 449, 140 P.3d 601 (2006) (class action lawsuit for jail inmates who were improperly subjected to "strip searches" upon booking for non-violent, non-drug offenses);
Wharf v. Burlington Northern, 60 F.3rd 631 (9th Cir. 1995) (successful representation of railroad employee who won a new trial on 'damages only,' due to misconduct by the railroad and its lawyers, at trial); and
Chambers-Castanes v. King County, 100 Wash.2d 275, 669 P.2d 451, 39 A.L.R. 4th 671 (1983) (significant victory for crime victims who were allowed to pursue their claim against county government, due to a "special relationship" arising from 911 calls).
