Having a career of over 30 years, Mr. Hein currently works as a furniture designer and craftsman. Mr. Hein has been a curator of "The Forest Refined" for the Trenton City Museum, and "Out of the Woodwork, an Exhibition of New Jersey Woodworkers" at The College of New Jersey in 1994.
A recipient of fellowships from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Mr. Hein's creative work has been displayed in The New Jersey State Museum, the Zoller Gallery at Penn State University, the American Craft at the Armory 7th Regiment Armory, and the Meredith Gallery, among many others. While he sells his furniture independently, he maintains a close relationship with the galleries and values the exposure. Over his career he has been a juror, lecturer, curator, exhibition advisor, on-site arts evaluator, and grants panelist.
Mr. Hein began his education at Temple University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1977. Afterwards, he found success in the rare books department of Firestone Library at the Princeton University. While working with the archival collection he photocopied books on furniture making and embarked upon what proved to be a rewarding professional journey after his first two pieces were exhibited at the New Jersey State Museum as fine art.

Having been profiled in The New York Times and PBS television, Mr. Hein has received numerous awards such as a NICHE award from The Rosen Group, a Certificate of Excellence from Metro Art, and an American Craft Merit Award. In 1991, he was featured in "Creative Design in Furniture" by Kraus Sikes. Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, he is a member of the Second Amendment Foundation, the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, and the Cumberland Riflemen.
