Ms. Van Karnes is a realtor with 33 years of service to her clients. Since childhood, she was fascinated with architecture and interior decoration, and was drawn to helping people find the right home to bring their dreams to life. Ms. Van Karnes studied at Pan American College from 1962 to 1963, and later completed coursework at East Los Angeles College in 1964 and 1965.
Ms. Van Karnes began her career as a secretary for 3M Company of Los Angeles, serving from 1963 until 1968. Between 1978 and 1987, she was the vice president and the chief financial officer of Imperial Clinical Laboratory, Incorporated, of Lynwood. Ms. Van Karnes found her passion for real estate in 1986, when she joined Bliss Keeler, Incorporated of San Marino, as a realtor. She would remain with Bliss Keeler until 1990, when she became a member of the realty team at Fred Sands Realtors of San Marino until 1997, and of Pasadena until 2001. Ms. Van Karnes has been a realtor for Coldwell Banker, San Marino, since 2001.
Ms. Van Karnes is the author of "Ode To Grace-A Moment of Prayer," a book of religious meditations published in 2018. She is most proud of the publication of her book, as she feels it is the completion of an inspiration from God. She is currently working on a book of devotionals. Ms. Van Karnes is a founding member of the Foothills affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. She was also a member of the Braille Auxiliary of Pasadena and The Door of Hope Auxiliary of Pasadena. She enjoys hiking, bridge, and folkloric dancing.
