Mr. Love began with the intent of entering the professional field of engineering. With demand for engineering declining as the 1960s advanced, he began taking business classes and completed a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in accounting and finance and a minor in economics at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana in 1972. He later returned to the university and obtained a Master of Business Administration in 1988. Earning his certified public account license in 1972, he is also a registered investment advisor. In addition to his designation as a CPA, Mr. Love is a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
From 1972 to 1978, Mr. Love was an auditor at Ernst & Young in Jackson, Michigan, departing as a senior supervisor. In 1979, he joined Connable Associates Inc. in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he would serve through 2000, departing as an owner in the business and serving as a Director and Executive Vice President. From 1979 to 2000, he also spent time as the vice president of finance and director of Lafourche Realty Co. Inc. in Kalamazoo, and as the vice president, secretary and director of LRC Oil & Gas Corp. in Kalamazoo. In addition to these projects, Mr. Love was a part of the joint venture of Hilboldt, Love & Westin until 2000 while serving as a private trustee. As well, Mr. Love has served on a variety of private companies and charitable initiatives.
Mr. Love believes serving his community is crucial, and that gratitude involves sharing what you have with others. To this effect, he is active in a number of charitable efforts throughout Michigan, including officer and/or board member activities with the local YMCA, the school board of Augustine Cathedral School, finance and investment committee of the Cathedral Parish and the Kalamazoo Diocese, the board of the local Michigan Works organization, chairing the board on several occasions, trustee and board chair at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, IN, trustee and board chair for Ascension-Bergen Hospital and its subsidiary. As well, a variety of other social and charitable entities.
