Dr. Vincent Bufalino received the "Gold Heart" and Chairman's Award for volunteering excellencies from the AHA and was named "Physician of the Year" by the group.

Dr. Bufalino has served as member and chairman of the Practicing Physician Advisory Council for the Department of Health & Human Services. Prior to joining Advocate, he was CEO and Chairman of the Board of Midwest Heart Specialists, a 55-person cardiology practice in Chicago. He trained at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine where he was a resident in internal medicine and a fellow in cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Bufalino maintains his professional alignment with the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology where he has held several executive positions and committee chairmanships. He received the "Gold Heart" and Chairman's Award for volunteering excellencies from the AHA and was named "Physician of the Year" by the group.
In addition to being recognized via the American Heart Association, Dr. Bufalino was named to the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2008, earned a Man of the Year Award from the Italian-American Organization, and was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished Marquis listee, he has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in the World.
