Dr. Simon Olling Rebsdorf is currently researching science didactics, futurology and the cognitive and social basis of pseudoscience.

Driven by a love of space and childlike wonder, Dr. Rebsdorf pursued a career in science, culminating in his work as the manager for ESERO Denmark at the House of Natural Sciences, and external examiner in science communication and philosophy, history and the didactics of science at Aarhus University. In his role with the European Space Agency Education Resource Office in Denmark, he has supervised the build-up, consolidation and management of the center, and at the House of Natural Sciences, he researches current developments of school-industry collaborations to the benefit of novel grant applications in the STEM fields, and ultimately to the benefit of young prospective engineering science students. A theoretical physicist with experience in science, the history and philosophy of science and technology and research communication, Dr. Rebsdorf is currently researching science didactics, futurology and the cognitive and social basis of pseudoscience.
At Aarhus University, Dr. Rebsdorf has overseen undergraduate and graduate students in the course of their studies and has previously maintained responsibility for developing Aarhus University Press' natural sciences effort on a national and international scale. With the University Press, he also served as a liaison with university researchers and has overseen the development of a book series on various STEM topics. Over the years, Dr. Rebsdorf has gained valuable expertise as the chief communications officer and a project manager of the House of Natural Sciences between 2013 and 2015, a communications specialist with a Regional Hospital of Central Jutland from 2012 until 2013 and an information specialist at the International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems.
In the early years of his career, Dr. Rebsdorf honed his expertise in scientific research, corporate communications, scientific journalism and science education through his work as a postdoctoral fellow at Aarhus University. He was further active as a creative idea developer and an innovation consultant for the Technological Institute of Denmark. Dr. Rebsdorf maintains his affiliation with the International Society of Philosophical Enquiry, the European Space Agency's advisory committee on education, Vice Chairman of the board of directors at Hald Ege Boarding School, and EU Horizon 2020, where he is an expert evaluator for science outreach proposals.
In his pursuit of scientific literacy, Dr. Rebsdorf earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from Copenhagen University in 1998. He later obtained a Master of Science in theoretical physics at the Niels Bohr Institute and a Doctor of Philosophy in science studies from Aarhus University in 2000 and 2004, respectively. Between his master's and doctoral degrees, Dr. Rebsdorf also conducted research in a visiting position at the Morris Fishbein Institute for the History of Science and Medicine and at the Astronomy and Astrophysics Department at the University of Chicago.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rebsdorf has contributed to a plethora of articles and books, including The Father, the Son, and the Stars: A History of Danish 20th Century Astronomy, a monograph based on his PhD dissertation, "Growing Out of the Past as a Seed for the Future," and "The Future of Science Forecasting". Furthermore, he has co-authored a textbook to become the basis of +10 years of lectures on innovation management at the School of Business and Social Sciences, Aarhus University. It was translated to Lithuanian in 2008. For his professional accomplishments, he was presented with the Carlsberg Foundation research scholarship between 2001 and 2003, the Faculty of Science scholarship in 2003 and 2004 and a Special Consideration for Position of Trusts from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in 2011. Looking toward, Dr. Rebsdorf intends to continue in his research while writing another book and providing scientific presentations in the business world.
