Driven to create positive opportunities for others, Dr. Pares-Matos excels as a professor at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, where she has been working since 1990. During her first five years with the aforementioned institution, she taught organic chemistry and general chemistry. Throughout her life, Ms. Pares-Matos has had the desire to learn and subsequently share that knowledge with others.
Prior to embarking upon her professional path, Dr. Pares-Matos earned a Master of Science in bio-organic chemistry. Subsequently, she graduated from Purdue University with a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry in 2000. Backed by considerable research knowledge, Dr. Pares-Matos has contributed to such articles as "Modeling and molecular docking studies of the cytoplasmic domain of Wsc-family, full-length Ras2p, and therapeutic antifungal compounds," "A molecular docking study of the interactions between human transferrin and seven metallocene dichlorides" and "Electrophoretic Mobility-Shift and Super-Shift Assays for Studies and Characterization of Protein-DNA Complexes."
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Pares-Matos is affiliated with the Eli Lilly Academy Family and the American Chemical Society. Looking toward the future, she intends to guide her graduate students as they complete their coursework. Additionally, Ms. Pares-Matos aims to author more articles in the field and become an administrator with the end goal of becoming the chairman of her department.
