Dr. Foldvary is an emeritus lecturer of economics at San Jose University. Teaching for 26 years before retirement, he likewise taught at Latvian University of Agriculture, Virginia Tech, John F. Kennedy University, California State University at East Bay, the University of California at Berkeley Extension, and Santa Clara University. Renowned for his expertise in public finance, governance, ethical philosophy, real estate economics, and social ethics, Dr. Foldvary originally became interested in the field due to the various social problems which society has long been burdened with, particularly poverty, inflation, and pollution.
Prior to his tenure in academia, Dr. Foldvary was an editor for Topical Time magazine between 1981 and 1987. He has authored several books, including "Soul of Liberty" in 1980, "Public Goods and Private Communities" in 1994 and "Dictionary of Free Market Economics" in 1998. Dr. Foldvary also edited and contributed to "Beyond Neoclassical Economics" and "The Half-Line of Policy Rationales."
During his career, Dr. Foldvary served as the chairman of the libertarian party in Alameda County, and on the board of directors of the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation. He was also a Bradley fellow in the Center for Study of Public Choice at George Mason University. Moreover, Dr. Foldvary found success as a board member of the Embarcadero Federal Credit Union in San Francisco from 1979 to 1981.
Dr. Foldvary received Bachelors of Arts in computer science and economics at the University of California at Berkeley in 1970. He later attended George Mason University, acquiring a Master of Arts in 1990. Concluding his education in 1992, Dr. Foldvary graduated from the university with a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1992.
Involved with several professional organizations in his field, Dr. Foldvary remains a member of the American Economic Association. He is also a member of Common Ground California. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Foldvary has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the West.
Dr. Foldvary and his wife, Gloria, live in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California.
