Ms. Evelyn Blount was the executive director-treasurer of the Woman's Missionary Union, Auxiliary South Carolina Baptist Convention from 1985 to 2008.

With over 40 years of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Blount was the executive director-treasurer of the Woman's Missionary Union, Auxiliary South Carolina Baptist Convention from 1985 to 2008. Previously, she found success in multiple positions for the Woman's Missionary Union, Auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention such as a youth department supervisor, a field services director, a national enlargement plan director, a teens director, and a program design specialist, and team director with GA Baptist Woman's Missionary Union, between 1970 and 1985. Ms. Blount worked as minister of education at the 1st Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama from 1969 until 1970. She began her career as a teacher at Blue Mountain College in 1964. She has since held the posts of a teacher for Berkmar High School and a group leader for a Baptist Center in Kentucky.
In addition to the prior professional achievements, Ms. Blount has served as a member of the Hold Out the Lifeline: Prenatal & Family Ministries and a member of the state steering committee for the South Carolina Department Health and Environmental Control. Moreover, she is a member of the Governor's Council on Mentoring. Once a month, Ms. Blount dedicates her time to performing leadership service at the Barrow County Detention Center.
Prior to embarking on her career journey, Ms. Blount pursued an education at the Woman's College in Georgia, now known as the Georgia College & State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1964. She completed additional coursework at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, from which she graduated with a Master of Religious Education in 1969. Before her professional and educational careers, Ms. Blount was recognized as an honorary life member of the U.S. Air Force Air Defense unit in 1959.
Outside of her immediate professional responsibilities, Ms. Blount is an active member of the National Association of Female Executives and the board of director for Barrow County Cooperative Benevolence Ministries, Inc. She has volunteered her time to the Department of Juvenile Justice of South Carolina for a number of years and thoroughly enjoyed her work there. Growing up in missions organizations and having her mother serve as a tremendous influence, Ms. Blount felt called by her religious faith to continue the work.
