Ms. Bisbee was a utility company executive and consumer advocate with more than 30 years of distinguished service to her industry. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in home economics education. Ms. Bisbee continued her education at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. earning a Master of Education in child development in 1971.
From 1964 to 1968, Ms. Bisbee was the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension home economist for Racine County. Between 1963-1964 and 1968--1974, she affiliated with Oshkosh Public Schools, initially as a teacher and eventually as department chair. She combined her experience in family, consumer sciences, and education to build a career in consumer advocacy and education, beginning with her time as manager of education relations for the J.C. Penny Company in New York City from 1974-1978. She subsequently served as the vice president of Creamer Dickson Basford Public Relations between 1978 and 1981. She did free-lance educational development work for a variety of clients from 1981-1983.
In 1983 Ms. Bisbee came to work for Brooklyn Union Gas, which became KeySpan in 1998. She held the positions of consumer affairs representative until 1985, consumer advocate from 1986-1992, the manager of consumer outreach and education from 1992-1998, and the manager of consumer communications and advocacy from 1998 until her retirement in 2003. KeySpan was purchased by National Grid in 2007. Ms. Bisbee is proud to have been able to act as a liaison between companies and consumers.
