Prior to his current roles, he worked as general counsel, an executive vice president and the secretary for the Bank of America Financial Services from 1991 to 1992 and general counsel, an executive vice president and secretary general counsel with Security Pacific Financial Services, Inc. from 1981 to 1991. Mr. McManus began his career as a partner with McManus and McManus from 1953 to 1963, the division counsel at the U.S. Navy Facility Engineering Command from 1963 to 1966, and the vice president and the director of law for the Household Financial Corporation from 1966 to 1981.
Mr. McManus initially pursued an education at Saint Ambrose University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1949. He continued his studies with a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Michigan in 1952. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving to the rank of a first lieutenant from 1952 to 1953. Returning to his academic efforts, he graduated from Roosevelt University with a Master of Business Administration, with honors, in 1965. Likewise, Mr. McManus has been admitted to practice law in the states of California, Illinois, and Iowa.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. McManus has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the California Financial Services Association, and the American Financial Services Association. Mr. McManus has also maintained his involvement with the Lions, the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and Beta Gamma Sigma.
Throughout his career, Mr. McManus has been celebrated for his contributions to the field. He has been presented with a San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Distinguished Award and the President of the California Bar Pro Bono Services Award. Moreover, he has been previously recognized as the San Diego Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.
