HALLANDALE BEACH, FL, September 30, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Nancy L. Schatken with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Schatken celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Accruing 59 years of experience of writing and editing in the field of medicine, Ms. Schatken has presided as the owner and founder of Mostly Medical, Inc., since 1970, when the firm was first established in New York City. She initially entered the field in 1960 as a medical technologist and sometimes instructor on behalf of myriad institutions, after which she joined Harper & Row and later became acting managing editor for their medical journals department between 1966 and 1969. Ms. Schatken subsequently held the position of associate editor with Medical World News, a magazine published through McGraw-Hill, from 1969 to 1970. Following this appointment, she founded Mostly Medical, Inc., and has overseen its operations as it has moved locations from New York, to Saint James in Barbados, and finally to Hallandale Beach, where she resides today.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Schatken drew inspiration from her father, Robert V. Schatken, who served in World War II as a surgeon and her nurse mother. Seeking to follow their example, she pursued her education at the University of North Carolina, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1959. Ms. Schatken earned certification as a medical technologist, MT (ASCP) from the Albany School of Medical Technology the following year.
Possessing a keen sense of community engagement, Ms. Schatken associates with a number of prestigious civic organizations. In addition to being a proud member of the American Civil Liberties Union, she is affiliated with the Southern Poverty Law Center, Emily's List, the U.S. Memorial Holocaust Museum, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Politically engaged as well, Ms. Schatken is a member of the Democratic National Committee.
For her outstanding accomplishments as an editor, Ms. Schatken credits her insatiable curiosity, which has sustained and driven her progression through her chosen field. She takes great satisfaction in editing the works of non-English speaking authors and making their research understandable in English for their medical colleagues. Adjacent to her career, Ms. Schatken enjoys diversions such as travel, reading, swimming and entertaining guests.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Schatken has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
