Dr. Lynn R. Kahle has held the title of professor emeritus at the University of Oregon since 2017.

Dr. Kahle has held the title of professor emeritus at the University of Oregon since 2017. Teaching on the Eugene campus for more than 30 years, he began as an assistant professor in 1983 and worked his way up to James Warsaw professor in the department of marketing. In addition to teaching various marketing courses, he also taught psychology on campus. He formerly taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an assistant professor between 1980 and 1983. Dr. Kahle was also a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor between 1978 and 1980 as well as an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln between 1977 and 1978.
An elected fellow, board member and former council representative of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Kahle is also a longtime member and past president of the Society of Consumer Psychology. Furthermore, he holds membership with the American Marketing Association and the Association of Consumer Research as well.
A well respected author in the field, Dr. Kahle authored the 1984 book "Attitudes and Social Adaptation," the 1990 "Marketing Management," the 2012 "Marketplace Lifestyles in an Age of Social Media: Theory and Method" and the 2014 "Belief Systems, Religion and Behavioral Economics: Marketing in Multicultural Environments." He also authored and edited several other publications, served as the associate editor of Psychology & Marketing from 1983 to 1985, was editor of Sports Marketing Quarterly from 1999 to 2000 and began serving as the editor of Consumer Social Values in 2019. Additionally, Dr. Kahle has contributed numerous articles to scholarly journals.
Early in his career, Dr. Kahle was active locally as the president of the Commission on Rights of Aging between 1987 and 1991. He also served on the Human Rights President's Council from 1988 to 1991 and was on the board of directors of the Organization of Economic Initiatives from 1988 to 1996.
Honored with a 2014 LCB Thomas C. Stewart Distinguished Professor Award, Dr. Kahle also received a Stotlar Award for Education from the Sport Marketing Association that same year. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Marketing Association and a 2011 Distinguished Career Contributions Award for the scientific understanding of sports business from the American Marketing Association, among other recognitions. He has previously been featured in Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
Earning an Associate of Arts from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, in 1971, Dr. Kahle continued his academic efforts with a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, at Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1973. Following these accomplishments, he obtained a Master of Arts from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, in 1974 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Nebraska in 1977.
