The highlight of Mr. Richard A. Devall's career is his work in getting MRI technologies approved for use by the Department of Defense.

Mr. Devall had long admired the United States Air Force, and wanted to follow in the footsteps of his brother, who had served in the Air Force for four years. He completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1969 before joining the United States Air Force as a commissioned second lieutenant in 1970. Mr. Devall completed coursework at the Squadron Officer School, Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, and National Security Management programs for the Air Force via correspondence. He graduated from Midwestern University with a Master of Science in 1975 and from Louisiana State University with a Master of Arts in 2001.
From 1970 to 1971, Mr. Devall was a medical resource management clerk at the United States Air Force Hospital on the Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. In 1971, he was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he served as a student squadron commander and training evaluation officer at the School of Healthcare Sciences until 1976. Mr. Devall advanced through the grades to the rank of lieutenant colonel, and joined the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General as a health systems analyst from 1976 to 1978.
From 1978 to 1984, Mr. Devall again served as a health systems analyst for the Air Force Medical Service Center at Brooks Air Force Base in Texas. In 1984, he became director of medical resource management at the United States Air Force Hospital at Osan Air Force Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, until 1985. In 1985, he returned to Keesler Air Force Base as a director of medical resource management for the Keesler Technical Training Center Medical Center, where he would serve until his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Devall is decorated with numerous military honors, including a National Defense Service Medal, an Air Force Commission Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Medal for Meritorious Service to the United States Air Force. The highlight of his career is his work in getting MRI technologies approved for use by the Department of Defense. In his retirement, Mr. Devall is a lifetime member of the Air Force Association, and is active in Catholic life, serving in the Louisiana State Knights of Columbus.
