NORTHUMBERLAND, PA, October 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Katherine Bartol with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Bartol celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Bartol is a talented mezzo soprano, choral conductor, music educator and pianist/keyboardist of many years. Currently a private voice and piano instructor in central Pennsylvania and performing keyboard player and singer, she formerly spent 35 years teaching in the Selinsgrove Schools in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. There, she taught music and served as a choir director throughout the elementary, middle and high school before retiring in 2016. During her tenure, she also chaired the music department at the high school level.

During her career, Ms. Bartol lent her expertise as director of the show choir for Susquehanna University and served as a cooperating teacher for the music education departments at Susquehanna University, Bucknell University, and Pennsylvania State University. Katherine Bartol was an original contributing author for Pennsylvania State University's Partnership for Music Teacher Excellence: Guide for Cooperating Teachers, Student Teachers, and University Supervisars. She also specialized and often presented workshops in the Kodaly method, which is an approach to music education that was developed by Zoltan Kodaly in Hungary in the mid-20th century.

As a singer and musician, Ms. Bartol was afforded the opportunity to sing professionally for studio recordings, perform in her own rock bands, and appear as a guest artist for symphonic concerts throughout Pennsylvania and New York for many years. She even performed with Davy Jones of The Monkees. Chosen to premiere the compositions of James Mulholland and John Rutter at Carnegie Hall in New York City, she also directed her students in performing at the WWII Memorial Dedication ceremonies in Washington, DC, and the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown with President George W. Bush, Sandra Day O'Connor and other dignitaries in attendance. Likewise, she conducted her students in singing "The Star Spangled Banner" for Washington Wizards and Orlando Magic games, performed with The Turtle Island String Quartet in their concert at Susquehanna University, and participated in five Carnegie Hall concerts, including the premieres of John Rutter's Mass of The Children and The Gift of Life: Six Canticles of Creation.

Ms. Bartol received a Bachelor of Science in music education in 1981 and a Master of Arts in Music in 1989 from West Chester University. She also completed postgraduate work at several universities, including the University of Minnesota, Westminster Choir College, and The University of the Arts. Ms. Bartol holds a Pennsylvania instructional certificate in music for grades K-12.

Among industry-related organizations, Ms. Bartol has been a member of the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, and the Kodaly Educators of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Outside of her career Ms. Bartol has devoted her life to raising two talented daughters. She has also given her spare time as a volunteer for Saint Monica Church in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, local Girl Scout troops, and area nursing homes. She is an annual volunteer for the American Heart Association.

Ms. Bartol was awarded two Exemplary Choral Performances, one from the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association in 1993 and one from the Pennsylvania Middle School Association in 1994. Ms. Bartol was nominated by her students and received the local Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Month Award in 2014. Perhaps one of her greatest achievements as a teacher, however, was when composer James Mulholland visited central Pennsylvania and heard her students sing. Impressed by their voices, Mr. Mulholland invited them to sing in his premiere at Carnegie Hall, which led the way for Ms. Bartol and her students to participate in a series of Carnegie Hall concerts. Katherine Bartol is also very proud of her former students who made a notable living in the music industry. These students include members of a number one ranking rock band, award-winning opera and Broadway singers, an instrumentalist in a major symphony orchestra, a prominent sound technician, and some dedicated music educators. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Bartol has been featured in the 24th edition of Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World. Her biography has also been published in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Katherine Bartol has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
