Dr. Cawley also taught education at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, and elementary and middle school students in the Salt Lake City School District and the Dekalb County School District in Atlanta.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cawley has written extensively. His first book, "Handbook for Experimental Education," was published in 1988. He later published multiple other books that focus on history, including "From Mounthill to Georgia: Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Lyle, 1748-1831" in 2004, "From Virginia to Georgia: Captain Henry Hughes, 1756-1814: Patriot of the Continental Line," in 2006 and "From Ballymoran to South Carolina: Robert Stewart, 1755-1820" in 2008. Obtaining an undergraduate degree in science and English at Brigham Young University in 1954, he graduated from the University of Utah with a master's degree in 1961 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1970. Likewise, Dr. Cawley is a certified elementary school teacher in Utah and Georgia.
A member and the president of the Colorado Council of the International Reading Association, from which he received a President's Award, Dr. Cawley is also a member of the Society of Cincinnati and Phi Delta Kappa. He was further celebrated by Kappa Delta Pi with an Outstanding Counselor Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Cawley has been featured in more than 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the World.
