Backed by over 20 years of expertise in law, Ms. Brice serves as a partner with Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, where she has specialized in worldwide environmental law and litigation since 2011. With a unique understanding of science that she can easily translate to a jury, she handles cases involving environmental issues, toxic torts, and food and product liability litigation in federal and state courts. Throughout her career, she has made notable impacts on environmental matters. Not only did she secure a victory in the Northern District of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals against the United States Environmental Protection Agency as well as a win before the Illinois Pollution Control Board for a global manufacturing client against a state agency, Ms. Brice has represented clients in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency enforcement actions, including matters involving notices of violation under the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.
Prior to joining Bryan Cave, Ms. Brice gained valuable expertise in the field with Mayer Brown LLP, where she worked from 1995 to 2011 first as an associate and then as a partner. Previously, she earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Northwestern University with distinction in 1992, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Georgetown University cum laude in 1995. Subsequently, she was admitted to practice law in Illinois, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and District of Columbia Circuits and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Additionally, Ms. Brice contributes to others in need through the National Charities League.
With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Brice served as the lead author of "The Use of Genetic Evidence to Defend Against Toxic Tort Claims," which was a three-part series featured in the Journal of Intellectual Property and Technology Law in 2017. She further provided her knowledge to "Convention on the Rights of the Child: Using a Human Rights Instrument to Protect Against Environmental Threats" that was featured in the Georgetown International Environmental Law Review while in pursuit of her legal degree. Ms. Brice has also co-authored articles such as "Fractured U.S. Supreme Court Reins in Army Corps of Engineers' Wetlands Program" and "Do Environmental Laws Regulate Commerce?"
Ms. Brice has been recognized many times over the years for her efforts in law, earning the JD Supra Readers' Choice Award in 2018. Selected for inclusion as an Illinois Super Lawyer in environmental law between 2014 and 2019, Best Lawyers in America from 2013 to 2019, and inclusion as an Illinois Leading Lawyer in environmental and products liability defense law. She has also had the honor of being ranked for her work in environmental litigation through Chambers USA.
