Ms. Ye is a retired biomedical engineer who was aligned with the Instrumentation Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts, as a research and development scientist from 1994 to 2004. Working in her native country for the first 27 years of her career, she served as an assistant at the Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Science, and as an associate professor at the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Science. Ms. Ye was subsequently hired by the University of Florida in the late 1980s as a research fellow and an assistant before becoming an associate scientist at the Northeast Deaconess Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston.
An inventor in her field, Ms. Ye holds several patents, including for an optical fiber coupler and power supply for a laser flashlamp, for the improvements of related laser devices, and for optical and spectroscopic studies in animal models. As a seasoned scientist, she has also published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles as the result of her studies. Ms. Ye also co-authored "Pulse and CW Lasers" in 1977 and "Lasers in Cardiovascular Medicine and Surgery" in 1990.
Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Ye pursued an education at Peking University, from which she attained a Bachelor of Science in 1960. Following this, she graduated with a Master of Science in 1962. In order to remain aware of developments in the field, Ms. Ye is a member of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, the Chinese Optical Society and the Laser Society of Shanghai.
Ms. Ye notably received an A. Ward Ford Memorial Institute grant from 1990 to 1994 and was the recipient of an Outstanding Achievement Award in Science and Technology from the Shanghai City Government in 1982. A celebrated Marquis listee, she has been featured in close to 20 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
