Dedicated to helping immigrants achieve their dreams, Ms. Leja has excelled as a partner with Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, PC since 2007. As an immigrant herself, she was inspired to enter the field by the lawyer who assisted her family during the process. Specializing in both employment-based and family-based immigration law, she also works as an adjunct professor for the John Marshall Law School, teaching business aspects of immigration law. Additionally, Ms. Leja sits on the board of the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights, a national organization that serves unaccompanied immigrant children in detention pending removal proceedings and advocates for their rights and best interests.

Previously, she served as a teacher via Teach for America for the Chicago Public Schools between 2001 and 2004. A steadfast community advocate, Ms. Leja volunteers her services to Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and takes on numerous immigration cases on a pro bono basis.
Ms. Leja holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Relations from the University of Southern California, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction through National Louis University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Leja is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, where she has served on numerous committees that liaise directly with various government agencies involved in adjudicating immigration benefits, including currently serving on the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) Chicago District Director Liaison Committee and the USCIS Nebraska Service Center Liaison Committee. She has previously served on committees liaising with the Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of Labor (DOL).
Due to her outstanding achievements, Ms. Leja was named a Leading Lawyer in Immigration Law: Employment & Individual in 2018 and 2019 by the Leading Lawyers Network (Law Bulletin Media), a Super Lawyer in Immigration in 2019 by Super Lawyers Magazine (Thomson Reuters) and a Best Lawyer in Immigration in 2020 by Best Lawyers.
