Dr. Parker-Conrad, of Conrad & Conrad Consultants in Knoxville, is an educational consultant in the field of nursing who founded her business in 1996 with her husband, Daniel E. Conrad, MD. A successful nurse and an entrepreneur, she has devoted more than 40 years to her profession, beginning in 1975 as a chief occupational health nurse consultant and a deputy director of occupational health for the Wisconsin Division of Health in Madison. From 1979 until 1996, Dr. Parker-Conrad affiliated at the academic level on behalf of several institutions, during which she advanced through several positions. She served as a director at the University of Illinois' Occupational Health Nursing program, the acting dean of the Office of International Studies at the aforementioned school's College of Nursing, the Joanna Johnson chair in Occupational Health Nursing at the University of Wisconsin, and the dean of the health programs division at Walters State College, Morristown, TN.
An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Parker-Conrad received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1969, followed by a Master of Science in 1976. She later acquired a Doctor of Philosophy at Loyola University in 1987. She is a registered nurse through the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Madison, WI. As a leading authority in her field, Dr. Parker-Conrad has conducted voluminous research on leadership in nursing, health promotion-cost containment programs, and occupational health nursing. Her studies have resulted in the contributions of multiple articles to various scientific and academic journals throughout her career.
In order to remain aware of developments in her field, Dr. Parker-Conrad retains her professional membership in various pertinent organizations. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Occupational Health Nursing, and has been additionally a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, the International Council of Occupational Health, and Phi Delta Gamma. The recipient of a Schering Award for Excellence in Occupational Health Nursing, Dr. Parker-Conrad is also a celebrated Marquis listee.
